What is the thirty hour day?
The thirty hour day is a concept I came up with while I was in college. I was always a night owl, and I had a tendency to stay up late. However, when I finally went to sleep, I always had a hard time getting up in the morning. Even when I went to bed relatively early, I wanted to sleep longer. Also, even when I didn’t sleep alot, I wanted to stay up later. It was weird until I realized that for me, a longer day-cycle would be beneficial.
The result would be that I could stay up longer, and then sleep longer. A true “win-win” situation. I theorized that I am not the only one who would benefit from this, but until recently, I had never heard of anyone else with the idea, and certainly nobody who had done it.
I recently heard of a couple in Alaska or Canada who apparently did this. It seems easier there because there are extended periods of sunlight and darkness, so they are not tied as directly as we are to the 24-hour cycle of the earth’s rotation. I think it’s great, but I was not able to find much information about them. Anyway, it’s one thing for someone in Northern Canada to be able to do this, and it certainly lends credence to my theory, but in my opinion, the true test would be for someone in Los Angeles to try it. Well, guess what? I am that someone. I have embarked on a journey of living the thirty hour day. I am calling it (not so originally), the Thirty Hour Day Experiment. This is my blog.

I have unintentionally been on a 24+ hour day cycle since high school. Waking up and falling asleep at a different time every day has pretty much screwed up my life.
I found your blog while doing research on how to get back into a 24 hour pattern. Perhaps I will start a blog to document my experiences.
